Dont spend ur money trying to get a new graphic card, motherboard changed or installing new wifi card.its HP manufacturers defect and is a big issue and has no remedy even if you pay hp to get it repaired its useless it will die in a few days or months, the penny heat sink and hair blower are temporary and is the best remedy.
save your money instead of trying to get it repaired.i have done the penny heat sink, the wifi is not back, but it did boot the first time. since then it has had the blank screen a few times, but with the hair dryer blown into the exhausts it boots.am gonna use it till it lasts then when i am done i will never ever buy HP garabge again.my other laptop is lenovo and it is the best so far.HP is pure garbage packed nicely with eye pleasing design but inside is pure garbage and useless.

All, Agreed the whole of HP range suffers with this same issue.
I have a TX1340ea, DV6000 these are for home users, the business laptops don't suffer from these issues 6715b, 6730s laptops, seem to be ok.
HP do need to sort this out and like most of the comments on the forums the more people that complain, HP will have to be forced into taking action on all there ranges as these are common faults with the GPU and the Nivida video card.
Mark Hurd is the CEO for HP so he should be bombarded with the complaints, only then we may get a response in resolving these issues with these laptops, they charge a lot for there laptops but give rubbish aftersales and try to charge us for repairing a problem they should have rectified along time ago.
They should recall and replace everyones laptops who have suffered with this overheating issue, blue screen, power turning off, WIFI not working and many other issues caused by the failure of the GPU.
The list of laptops are as follows:
TX1000 Models.
Dv2000 Models.
DV6000 Models.
DV9000 Models.

My experience with hp was so negative and i urge people to stay away from their products. I bought a brand new laptop and in its 2nd week some of the letters on the keyboard werent working. I contacted tech support and the were going to fix the laptop and told me to pay for shipping(ridiculous right considering i had just bought it). Then i asked them to replace the laptop all together and thats where the nightmare began. They referred me to their case managers, and the 1st case manager i spoke to was completely useless, she was arrogant and not helpful at all. I requested a 2nd case manager who was a bite polite but just as useless. This woman told me that she would put a request order for a new laptop and would get back to me in afew days. She never called, i would call and leave messages and she wouldnt call back in a timely manner. I finally spoke to her and she told me she was still waiing on an approval and would call me in 2days. Keep in mind while all this is happening my school work and regular work is suffering. On the 2nd day after not hearing back from her i decided to call their headquaters in California and tell them that i wanted to return the laptop and get a refund. The transferred me back to the same useless case manager and once again she had no solution to my problem. I had to wait for an answer and when the response came they declined both my requests for a replacement laptop and refund the only thing the offered was a repair, doing this was out of the question for me and i filed a lawsuit against them.

Found a solution for black screen, no post and lights on. As you know it's the video chip detaching because of heat. So here's the solution according to poster.

http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-63420-black-screen-on-my-hp-tx1000

it worked for me. I taped ALL air vents and then wrapped the laptop with two towels. Laptop closed and upside down, because video chip is actually facing up when laptop is in normal position, and don't want the video chip to come off even further when hot. So I set it upside down, turned on the laptop and put a bunch of heavy blankets over it for exactly 30 min. Turned it off and left it in that position (upside down for at least 1 hour). Turned it back on, and viola !! It worked!

I have the same problem with my tx1220us. It just died couple months ago. It won't start up, only lights on, black screen. It either stays black screen with all lights on or just shuts down right away after power switch turn on.
How do we start a class action law suit against HP?
It is definitely a product defective issue.

I bought my wife a HP TX1000 laptop and 2 of her friends liked it and bought the same model soon after. About a year and a half later all three are dead with the exact same problems listed in this forum. I will never touch a another HP product again. Low quality complete crap.

Hi, I have the same problem, black screen and overheating. Since I took the guaranty of 3 years, I was able to clam for repair 3 TIMES and all this happens within an interval of month which means that the first time it got crash was in march of last year, exactly one month after I got it back it crash again !! and so on for 2 more time. Now I'm waiting for the last crash so I can get a credit for new laptop but obviously BestBuy will not give me a fair value of credit. I'm soo mad for buying this computer and for sure I will never again buy HP. What a waist of money and time.

I will be calling tech support with our info since this is the third computer we have had this happen to and it happened today again. I will be writing a letter as directed by Dextermat in the blog, as well as calling the BBB, FTC,and the RIPOFF report website if I do not get a response. I will let everyone know what happens because I am very persistent. Lori
